In the before pic, the longish wound leading up to the end of my toe on the left side was produced by a shard of nail growing in and ended up just poking out through the end of my toe.
Andrew had to have surgery and by the looks of it I think I would have left it alone, it looks like they put his toe thru a meat grinder . These kind of pics are my favorite, its a treat to see before and after pics. Thanks again Andrew!

11/07/02- I deal in wounds here, but there are some wounds that time wont heal, one of these is the 9/11 attack that was made on the U.S.A. . I made a page devoted to that day its my way of showing respect and to remind myself that the price of freedom does not come cheap. I have allways had the upmost respect for the men and women that serve in our armed forces. My Father served 20 years in the Army,my youngest son is leaving next summer to the Marines and I damn near went myself in my younger years, but I was to much of a out-law.

Let me tell you why I brought this subject up. I was surfing the net last night and went to EHOWA.com which is a daily read for me and one of the best sites out there. Eneries lastest post was about a email that he had receieved from a cadet of the Air Force Academy who had sent a email himself to the processor of history at Saint Xavier University...

Its great to hear that there are some sick puppies out there other than myself. Thanks for all the great pics! Im going to work them into a personal blog entry about my Father-in-law and his tooth, the credit for these pictures goes to Carolyn. So here we go, get the barf-bags ready and enjoy....

About a year ago ,on a weekend,we got a phone call from my wifes mom telling us that they were on their way to visit us, they live in San Antonio so I figured I had about 3 hours before they got here. I ran a few errands and picked up the usual bottle of Jim Beam, that's my father-in-laws favorite drink.

I get back to the house and have a couple of drinks until they arrive. Well, we go through the "hellos" and "hows it going" stuff when my F-I-L tells me that he came down here because he needed me to pull a tooth out for him.

First a little history on my F-I-L , he has never seen a dentist in his life, and his youngest son was always the one to pull his teeth for him,but I knew that Wayne was out of town so I knew that he wasn't kidding about the tooth pulling.He tells me that it's one of his front teeth thats bothering him and that he has'nt eaten in a couple of days, so Im thinking..damn he's gonna make me do this....

I tell him to drink half the bottle and when he's ready to let me know,Im hopeing like hell he would pass out , but he downs about a 1/3rd of the bottle and tells me he's ready. So I grab a pair of plyers and get into position.I take hold of the tooth and can hear and feel the tooth grinding against the steel tip of the plyers and stop. I think to myself that I might use to much pressure and break his tooth, so I tell my wife to give me a paper towel, and I fold it several layers thick and put it around his upper teeth, I get into position and ask him one last time if he was sure he wanted to do this and he gives me a thumbs up, so I grab hold and pull.

With one swift yank I pull his tooth out and the blood just starts gushing out , he has a rag in his mouth and is bobbing up and down in pain and I hear him say "yuff poof vuff woff woof" ,oddly enough I understood what he said and start screaming " OMG I pulled the wrong F---ing tooth!" well im freaking , he's in pain, and the women are changing colors.It took a while but the bleeding finally stoped, he had a few more drinks ,and I pulled the tooth out ( he wouldnt let me use the paper towel ).....He felt and looked a lot better the next day and all I could tell him wwas that it was a 2-for-1 special.... My husband is a medical entomologyst and my sister thought this picture she found on the net would be cool to send to him. GROSS! OUCH!! ...enjoy !

That is one gross picture! I've seen a lot of things in my life but that one freaked me out. It reminds me about a time when my youngest boy was about 5 years old, I was getting on him all the time about brushing his teeth because he had bad breath. Well , as his breath got worse my wife and I would brush his teeth for him, thinking that he was'nt really brushing. We brushed and brushed and brushed, but nothing seemed to work, poor kid went through 3 toothbrushes in a months time.

Well I happened across a article in a magazine about kids sticking things in their nose and it said that if it was food it would cause bad breath... so Im like... no way.. I call my son over and take a look up his nose and sure enough I saw that there was something in there. So we take him to the emergency room and I tell the Doc. what I think has happened so he grabs a pair of tweesers and slowly pulls out a rotten bean, sprouts and all, well the dumass takes a big whiff and gags and says "I think this was the problem" and Im like ,no shit, I can smell it all the way over here. Well, little David got through that one ok but for some reason we allways had hell getting him to brush his teeth from then on... Thanks for the pic!

My boyfriend and I live in the country near a railroad track. This past spring he and my 10 yr old Austrailan Shephard went for a walk in the woods.. When they were on there way back a train came and my dog decided that she was going to chase it! He saw her running after the train and of course he yelled to her and she wouldnt stop. The train passed and no sign of my dog. As he was walking closer, he saw her come up out of the ditch and start towards the house and she layed down in the yard. When he got close to her he noticed she was bleeding..I rushed her to the vet and found she had a broken pelvis and a very large wound covering almost her entire back end. she required over 60 stitches the first surgery and when those came apart she had to have the surgery done over again. It was a nasty site, had to have a drainage tube and everything in it, she was down for months. Aparently she wasn't actually "run over" by the train but was hit by something on the side of it..Its been over 6 months now and her hair is all grown back and you can't even tell that she has had an injury like this, who said only cats have 9 lives!!!!

Thats one lucky dog! I have a soft spot for animals and its great to hear that Sage came out of it so well! Id love to see a picture of her all healed up, so send us a pic when you get a chance.(update) Thanks for the great pic of Sage, wounds all healed and looking comfy.

My brother was out using a rented chainsaw to get rid of a dead tree. He always thinks he is more skilled at these types of things than he actually is, and as a result does something stupid.

Using one hand to control the chainsaw, he used the other to hold back some branches. Needless to say, the saw jumped and caught his finger. This is the only pick we have. When it healed it left nothing that looks like a traditional knuckle. Just scar tissue. There were actually 20 stitches used inside and out.

OUCH! That is one nasty looking mangled finger and I know that had to hurt like hell. Please tell your brother that I have a old oak tree that needs to come down..hell..Ill pay extra for wounds if he lets me take a few pictures.

10/16/02- This last Sunday I went out to the backyard bare footed to light the pit and stepped in a pile of fire-ants and got stung a few times, well that pissed me off so I went to the shed to see what I could find to kill those little bastards with when some damn bees came after me, I was able to fend them off while I ran into the house,.....they made the preemptive strike and.....of course... this meant war. I went to the local Home Depot and loaded up on the latest and greatest bug killing weaponry you can buy, It cost me $30.00 but I felt a hell of a lot better afterwards. At least we humans can protect ourselves, take a look at this poor dog that was bit by a Brown Recluse, and this bear that got bee stings on his tongue.

10/07/02- I was helping my oldest son to install a water pump on his car when we started to talk about the pit bull he brought home about a month ago. Ive never been a big fan of pit bulls,I guess its because of all the stories Ive heard about them turning on their owners and all the pics Ive seen of dog bites and attacks on the net and tv. But I fell for "Rocky" the first time I saw him. He was dark brown with a white streak going from the middle of his eyes to the middle of his back and his paws were white. It hurt like hell when we buried him in the backyard two weeks ago, he died from Parvo, a nasty and painful virus that kills dogs within a few days so please take your new pups straight to the vet when you buy them...

On a happier note ( I think ) my younger son went and bought a pet snake,its a harmless garden snake but of course that got me to do a little research on pet snakes and I found a series of pics from a owner of a Hognose snake that bit him. This guy must really love his snake because he actually took the time to put him under cold water so he would let go. After about 2-3 hours his hand and arm showed signs of swelling and it took about 3 days for the swelling to go away. All I can say is that I'm from Texas and if that little bastard had bitten me he would have been skinned and fried...

I've had stitches before but nothing like this, Bailey says he was helping a co-worker move a piece of steel when his partner dropped his end without warning and it crushed/cut his hand. The good side to this story is that it looks like it's healing and the worst is over and above all...... it didn't happen to the right hand.

9/24/02- Thanks to " Abby Normal " for her contribution ! I have to say that this is the best looking cut that I have seen. She was in the middle of moving when she somehow cut her ass on a piece of glass. 9/16/02-Here's a guy with a hole in his stomach, it was caused from a Stoma ( ulcer of the large intestine ) at one point he had a piece of his gut sticking out, does'nt it make you want to slice that little booger off and throw it on the grill.....hmmm...hhmmm... The good news is that it did heal and he felt much better afterwards, the only thing is that now he has to go to the crapper about 10 times a day so now he has a rash on his ass.

9/10/02-Thanks to Gord for his contribution ! Gord has been seeing some quack Doctors from the looks of it. It all started with a pinched nerve, he went to the Doc and got stabbed a few times with a needle, that didn't work so they cut him open, but then it got infected, which brings us to the pic of his foot YOUCH... I can't even imagine what the pains like every time you have to clean it out.

9/09/02-I have never been genuinely in fear for my life.... until this last Sunday that is. We went to work that morning to see if we could get a few hours in, it had been raining all week because of T.S. Fay , so I was desperate for some hours. We are working on a Turning Dolphin ( ships use them to turn around to dock ) about 1700 feet from shore and the only way to get out there is in a John-Boat.

Well the wind was calm so we rode out there, and right around noon the sky turned black and and the wind picked up, so we jumped in the boat and took off. There were 2-3 foot swells and just the site of seeing waves 1-1/2 feet above your boat is enough to get your heart pumping pretty damn hard let me tell you, we made it to shore and dragged the boat out, other than getting soaking wet and some slight damage to the boat it all came out all right. Mother Nature can be a real bitch sometimes ...

9/02/02- About 2 weeks ago I was at work and went to the port-a-john to take a leak, when I came out of there I felt something on my arm and saw a spider. Well being the brave guy that I am I swatted it off but it was still attached by a spider web and it swung back around me, so I started flinging my arms around like a damn mad man and screaming at my co-workers to get this spider off of me. We never found the spider but I did have a bump about the size of a dime on my forearm.

The bite didn't hurt which actually worried me. The first thing that came to mind was that I had been bitten by a Brown Recluse Spider , but the bite mark went away by the end of the day and nothing ever happened. I got lucky that day, they can do some major damage . Heres a poor guy that was bit on the leg

8/28/02- My wife cut her foot today on a piece of glass, it got me to thinking.... (that always worries her for some reason....) The foot has to be the worst place to get a wound,its constantly moist there's always the worry of fungal infections and it just seems to be a perfect breeding ground for GERMS....So.... I did a little research and found some radical treatments for infections.
